Dave Leland, who continues to serve as an advisor to Leland Consulting Group (LCG), is active in projects in Mexico. Dave extended his expertise as a development strategist to Capital Natural, owner of Arboleda, a major mixed-use development in San Pedro Garza Garcia, Mexico. Staff at LCG assisted Dave at key points throughout this process including a market study, competitive analysis, and strategic development programming for the project, as well as helping to facilitate a design competition for recruitment of the primary project architect. Dave has been involved throughout the five-year development period and continues today as urban strategist and advisor.
This remarkable project, designed by Pelli Clark Pelli Architects is approximately three million square feet in size, including four stories of underground parking (no surface garages). Sofia, a 39-story luxury office and condominium tower was recently completed and was largely sold out prior to the building being finished. Now under construction are four different housing components including two towers and two low-rise condominium projects – about three hundred additional units that are also selling quickly. A commercial component is under construction and will house specialty retail and six restaurants. When complete, Arboleda will have 12 restaurants including a contemporary Mercado that will offer food, a cooking school, guest chefs, and select accessories. A five-star hotel will be the next tower scheduled for 2016.
Elsewhere in the region, Dave’s clients, both Capital Natural and Tec de Monterrey, have joined forces and Dave serves as strategist and advisor for revitalization of Tec’s main campus and for DistritoTec, a large area surrounding the university. Tec de Monterrey is the largest global tech university with a student body of over 100,000 across 33 campuses. Dave’s role is to serve as strategist and advisor for campus expansion, a technology cluster, public-private partnering, attracting light rail, a variety of public and private projects, and the strategy for the larger district (Distrito Tec) implementation.
